Cyber Djinn Album that smells of cyberpunk sounds, industrial melodies and a singular atmosphere of desolation. Favorite track: WAR Radio.

ats0 Even if you don't know the movie this album is inspired by, you'll immediately get the feel of the era that Vosto is drawing from. Gritty bass, smooth leads, just enough edge to make it dangerous - without punching too hard. A moment trapped in amber, instead of an unfortunate insect in its core, its a silicon wafer of a hostile AI.

about

This album is a tribute to the movie HARDWARE released in 1990 but it's much more than that, it is my ultimate vision of desert post-apocalypse cyberpunk aesthetic.

The track titles are references to the HARDWARE universe itself. M.A.R.K. 13 is of course the self-assembling robot legend from the movie. WAR Radio is the actual radio that was transmitting all the bad news to the people through the voice of Angry Bob which was played by Iggy Pop.

I wonder what it would be like to live in a world where daily news includes radiation levels in the air and how dangerous it is to be outside not only because of that but because of the high crime rates in a broken world. One day you stumble in your scavenging session upon what looks like a broken robot head, you bring it home and it turns out that when you're not paying attention it self assembles and wants to kill you...hmm I wonder what the outcome will be? good luck!

I hope you decide to embark on this musically induced atmosphere through a harsh world but a harsh world that hasn't lost its hope, Mo Baxter is here to help us at the end of the day and thus he has his own ballad theme at the end of the album.

The cover art was done by Aimee McLernon and it's a modified version of the M.A.R.K. 13 robot, he now wears a VR set perhaps to play video games when he is not busy murdering people.

1990 was an interesting time, the world was changing but it still carried a deep 80's influence especially when it comes to movies. To me HARDWARE represents a sweet spot in the same way Terminator 2 does or Universal Soldier. It still felt like the 80's only more high tech. The early 90's were like 80's but in HD. HARDWARE however is not so HD because it was a low budget production, it was raw and gritty which to me is fantastic. I try to capture and convey some of that rawness and grittyness in this music album.

This music album is in no way trying to copy the soundtrack of HARDWARE 1990 but instead represents my own soundtrack to it, more digital, rough and saturated/distorted. Enjoy!
